Microwave-Assisted Neutral Dyeing of Cotton Fabric With Kayacelon Reactive Dyes

A microwave dyeing of cotton with Kayacelon reactive dyes was developed under a neutral condition. Selected Kayacelon yellow, red and blue reactive dyes were applied to cotton fabrics using microwave heating technique in comparison with conventional dyeing method. The results obtained indicate that the microwave is rather effective in performing higher exhaustion values than with conventional dyeing for all reactive dyes used. The fixation and total fixation yield for both techniques were found to be equally effective, even at shorter microwave heating time. The colour strength, colorimetric parameters and colour fastnesses of the dyed fabrics were also investigated.
