ART — an evolving disease

Avian rhinotracheitis is the name given to a viral disease of the upper respiratory tract caused by avian pneu-movirus. In turkeys it is often referred to as turkey rhinotracheitis and in chickens it is usually referred to as swollen head syndrome. The disease is present in many countries although some notable ones, such as the USA and Australia, appear to have so far avoided this particular disease.
