Thirty years ago, the hat-chability of turkey eggs was considerably lower than chicken eggs. Hodgetts (1991) reported that, in the UK, 1968 hatchabilities for turkeys and broilers were 66.3% and 78.7% respectively. Although official figures are not available for 1995 hatchabilities, in the UK turkeys currently hatch around 80-84% and broilers 81-85%.
