CePb3has been shown to be a heavyhyphen;fermion antiferromagnetic system with a Neeacute;l temperature,TN=1.1 K, and CeSn3is a mixed valent system with considerable thinsp;fhyphen;spdhybridization. Studies of pseudobinary alloys from CePb3to CeSn3provide an excellent opportunity to examine systematically the evolution of physical properties as the thinsp;fhyphen;spdhybridization increases and the heavyhyphen;fermion state is suppressed. Measurements of the temperature dependence of the resistivity, magnetic susceptibility, and specific heat for the pseudobinary alloy Ce(Pb1minus;xSnx)3are presented and discussed. Some features obtained from this study are that, upon substitution of Sn for Pb in CePb3, the electronic specifichyphen;heat coefficient and lowhyphen;temperature magnetic susceptibility display a monotonic variation with increasingxandTNis rapidly suppressed.
