Proton spinndash;lattice relaxation timeslpar;T1rpar;have been measured in acetylene gas between minus;50thinsp;deg;C and 19deg;C using a CAT for signal averaging.T1was found to depend linearly on the number densityrgr;in the range of these measurements (0.1 to 0.9 amagat). The temperature dependence of the ratioT1sol;rgr;indicates that the spinndash;rotational interaction provides the dominant relaxation mechanism. Cross sections for the transfer of angular momentum are presented.
