In a previous article on China we visited Sui Ping Enterprise Co Ltd's Conghua broiler breeder farm to see their Cobb parent stock. These provide the Cobb broiler chicks that are being so well received by Chinese farmers. In this second of two articles we follow the eggs produced on the Conghua farm to the nearby 2,400m~2 hatchery. This hatchery is located on a 10 acre site that is surrounded by a two metre high brick wall. It received its first eggs in December 1993. Here, biosecurity is paramount.All people entering the hatchery site pass through a mist of disinfectant and those entering the hatchery itself have to thoroughly shower and change into company owned clothing.
