This article discusses the factors that must be controlled during the rearing phase in pekin duck breeders to ensure good performance during the laying period. Focus is given on the 2 phases of the rearing period (grower and maintenance) and the levels of protein, energy and amino acids required for each phase, equipment needs, feeding management, liveweight control and managing underweight birds.
