Before the end of 2013, the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) is scheduled to publish a replacement for IEC 60335-2-40 Ed.4.2 (2005-07). This standard defines the particular safety requirements for heat pumps, air conditioners and dehumidifiers which employ flammable refrigerants and operate at no more than 250 V for single phase devices or 600 V for other equipment. This includes sanitary hot water heat pumps, dehumidifiers which incorporate motor compressors and hydraulic room fan coils.
