The differential scattering of potassium atoms by atomic iodine has been measured in both the inhyphen;plane and outhyphen;ofhyphen;plane mode. The energy range covered was 0.08ndash;0.2 eV. The angular dependence was measured between 2deg; and 108deg; (center of mass). A semiclassical synthesis of the observed scattering from assumed potential curves gives insight into the nature of the covalent potentials for potassium iodide.
