The specification of protective corrosion-control coatings is one of the most common ways to fight this problem. However, if the adhesion of these coatings is not tested as part of the specification compliance, the results may be very problematic. At best, premature system failure could incur higher costs for the owner, and in the worst case scenario, human life safety may be endangered.
