New oil-gas discovery near Nome

One year after the licence award Statoil has made an oil and gas discovery close to Nome estimated at between 20 and 80 million b. The drilling of the Cape Vulture exploration well is the result of the development of a new exploration concept for the Nordland Ridge. The discovery well 6608/10-17S encountered 28 m of oil and gas in two levels with good reservoir properties in the Cretaceous sandstones.
