A note on the effect of nitrate and phosphate on the perloline content of perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenneL.)

The application of nitrate to perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenneL.) plants significantly increased the level of the alkaloid perloline. The addition of phosphate either alone or together with nitrate had no significant effect on perloline level.
