Synergism among Rhizobium, Phosphate Solubilizing Bacteria and Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria in Field PEA

To evaluate the effect of pre-sowing inoculation of field pea seeds with different inoculants (Rhizobium, Phosphate Solubilizing Bacteria and Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria), the present study was done at Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur. Inoculants alone or in combination significantly increased the number of nodules, dry weight of nodules, straw and grain yield over control. When seeds were inoculated with Rhizobium+ PSB + PGPR produced significantly maximum grain yield (3175 kg ha~(-1)) and straw yield (3766.50 kg ha~(-1))was recorded highest followed by Rhizobium+ PGPR, Rhizobium+ PSB and Rhizobium alone, in all the two years (2007 and 2008) of experimentation. Increase in number and dry weight of nodules was also recorded at 30, 45, and 65 days after sowing (DAS). Dual inoculation with Rhizobium+ PGPR and Rhizobium+ PSB was also found significantly superior over Rhizobium alone. In combined inoculation of field pea seeds with Rhizobium+ PSB+PGPR, Grain and straw yields were increased by 19.06 % and 30.62 % over Rhizobium, 19.06 % and 30.62 % over PSB and 19.06 % and 30.62 % over PGPR alone inoculations, respectively.
