Coupled Anharmonic Vibrations and Spectral Line Broadening

It is pointed out that some numerically important terms were omitted in the approximate solution of the differential equations of the model proposed by Frisch and Vidale for broadening of spectral lines in hydrogen bonded systems. An improved estimate of the broadening is presented. With the parameters of Frisch and Vidale, as corrected by McDowell, the improved estimate for the frequency width is 625 cmminus;1.
