The vapors above heated Rb2XO4(X = S, Cr, Mo, and W), Cs2CrO4, In2CrO4, In2WO4, and Tl2WO4have been studied by IR matrix isolation spectroscopy. All these compounds show similar spectra in the Xndash;O stretching region, consistent with that expected from a M2XO4molecule.18O substitution in the K2WO4molecule shows the IR isotopic pattern expected for a bidentate binding in XO4=. The splitting of the ngr;3(F2) vibration of the tetrahedral XO4=anion by passing fromTdtoD2dsymmetry and the effect of the coordination of the cation are discussed.
