摘要

In this work an attempt has been made to study the effect of nano silica and silica fume on the mechanical properties of High Performance Concrete (HPC). The test results showed that the addition of nano silica enhanced the compressive strength, flexural strength and modulus of elasticity of HPC compared to silica fume. Micro analysis was carried out by Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS). SEM studies indicated that the nano particle is uniformly distributed by improving the microstructure of concrete. The results from EDS showed that the chemical composition of nano concrete is better than the silica fume concrete. The percentage of voids in case of nano silica based HPC is comparatively lesser than of silica fume based HPC.
