The lead time for overhaul of Heavy vehicles is to be minimized. To meet this requirement, all the subsystems which are undergoing overhaul are to be closely monitored for the servicing, testing and delivery to the final assembly line. In addition, some of the assemblies can be carried out in parallel to minimize the lead time. This has resulted in improving lead time from 60 days to 45 days i. e. lead time reduction is 25%. This increases the availability of equipment 15 days ahead to the customer. "Managing a maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facility is a more challenging task than managing most manufacturing facilities because of the high degree of uncertainty that prevails in repair operations. "Overhaul (OH) and Repair gives new life and breath to any equipment. In any overhauling activity, the timely delivery of the equipment to the customer is paramount. In this particular case the heavy vehicle assembly involved is very vital for the customers' operational requirement.
