This paper focuses on the design of a stand alone SPV power system, which can meet the power requirement of telecom tower (Base Transceiver Station) of GSM network in remote areas where grid supply is not available. The erratic grid supply in rural area and expensive access of grid supply in remote area is the main roadblock of telecom connectivity. So, the industry is looking for innovations like tapping solar energy reservoirs to meet power needs to remove bottlenecks that are hampering tele-penetration. A case for search of suitable place for installation of the system has been elaborated. 10KW stand alone SPV System has been designed for BTS load of 2+2+2 configuration. The designed battery capacity is 1200AH for one day autonomy (sunless day) and 2000AH for two & three autonomy. The rating of charge controller unit is 10KW/200A.
