摘要

Current national interest on alternative fuels has placed considerable emphasis on blends of gasoline. Parametric studies with methanol-gasoline, eucalyptus oil-gasoline, and orange oil-gasoline blends have shown that adding high calorific value fuels to gasoline without carburetor modifications decrease carbon monoxide emissions, volume based fuel economy and performance. Depending on the carburetor's air-fuel ratio characteristics, carbon monoxide, hydrocarbon emissions and the octane value of fuels are either increased, decreased or not affected. These effects can be explained on the basis of changes in stoichiometry, energy content, combustion temperatures and detonation resistance caused by the addition of these high octane fuels to gasoline. Blends of various proportions by volume of Eucalyptus oil with gasoline have been used as fuel in the high compression ratio S.I engine. Results of studies with Eucalyptus oil could be used to predict the behavior of other fuel blends with gasoline under similar circumstances.
