Coalescence of oil-bearing field waste water in hydrocyclone drain chambers was experimentally analyzed. Optimal time intervals of effluents treatment were defined as well as flow swirl parameters for top and bottom drain chambers that cause maximum oil drop coalescing. Sedimentation curves for oil particles and mineral impurities contained in waste water and pretreated in centrifugal force were plotted. Application of enameled drain chambers proved to allow a 1,2-1,5% improvement of impurities settling as compared with that in chambers without enamel coating. For pretreatment of oil field waste water, hydrocyclones equipped with only top drain chambers are the most efficient solution.
