摘要

This paper presents a novel approach utilizing the concept of innovative-tribo-design that provides a systematic and scientific procedure for the conceptual design of a mechanical system. It provides future direction and enhances designers' creativity. Two concepts for design of engine valve are presented using this approach. The first concept utilizes the variable stiffness and magnetic coupling as opening and closing mechanism of engine valve. The second concept utilizes oscillatory motions to control the opening area of cylinder. Both these concepts provide full flexibility to actuate the valve.
