MZDF: An Energy Aware Framework for Multiple-Zone Data Fusion Technique in WSN

摘要

The area of wireless sensor network (WSN) has potentially captured the attention of the research community from the past decade related to energy conservation issues. It is a fact that the presence of redundant data leads to unequal proportion of energy dissipation that result in lowering down the average "lifetime" of WSN. This fact eventually leads to inefficient data fusion technique too, which is an open research issue in the current past. This paper presents a very simple and yet efficient protocol termed as Multiple-Zone data fusion technique (MZDF). MZDF introduces a concept of zones, which are used to encapsulate the nodes that has either participant or not participated in the data fusion technique using "threshold-based" energy model. The proposed fusion mechanism outperform in simulation as compared to LEACH with performance matrices such as network lifetime.
