This paper assesses the transient stability of the existing Nigeria power system comprising 8-plants and 26 bus-bars through direct method. It deployed multimachine technique in the stability analysis. The result of power flow evaluation performed by Newton-Raphson technique indicated no voltage profile violations, while losses in lines 10-9, 10-8, 9-7, and 13-16 were above 10MW each. The transient stability analysis simulation by ode45 MATLAB programmed functions for a three-phase fault at bus 16, line 13-16 led to the establishment of the critical clearing time of 0.21 second and the stability margin of 0.238.
