摘要

This paper proposes the Artificial Bee Colony Algorithm applied to optimal reactive power dispatch (ORPD). Optimal reactive power dispatch has a growing impact on secure and economical operation of power systems. ORPD reduces power system losses by adjusting the reactive power control variables such as generator voltages, transformer tap-settings and other sources of reactive power such as capacitor banks and provides better system voltage control, resulting in an improved voltage profile, system security. The proposed algorithm is evaluated on an IEEE 30-bus power system, Simulation results show that the proposed approach converges to better solutions much faster than the earlier reported approaches in the literature. The optimization strategy is general and can be used to solve other power system optimization problems as well.
