摘要

The present study investigates the comparative effect of the whole green pod of M. oleifera and the inner fleshy portion of M. oleifera in the treatment of dye wastewater. Dye wastewater, collected from the textile industries in Sanganer area of Jaipur, Rajasthan was tested for various parameters like TDS, TSS, BOD, COD, (NO_3)~-, (SO_4)~(2-) and heavy metals. Thereafter, electrochemical treatment was performed in two sets, I and II, using SS316 electrodes at a current density of 35A/cm~2 for 45 minutes at 60℃ with the whole green pod of M. oleifera being added in set I and inner fleshy portion of M. oleifera pod in set II. The parameters analyzed for the treated water of set I showed that TDS, TSS, BOD, COD, Cr, Cu, (SO_4)~(2-) decreased by 13%, 76.5%, 74%, 72%, 73%, 4% and 13% respectively. The parameters analyzed for the treated water of set II, showed that the TDS, TSS, BOD, Cr, Cu, (NO)~(3-), (SO_4)~(2-) decreased by 87.4%, 94.5%, 68.8%, 85%, 97.7%, 89% and 91% respectively.
