摘要

This paper describes an interactive programming approach for the automatic selection of 2-Dimensional shaped parts and generation of wire paths to be used in Wire-cut EDM. This method is developed in two steps by using two programming methods, which deals with different metal cutting problems. These programs were developed in Visual Basic script to create the shape and generate the wire path. Further a heuristic method of Genetic Algorithm, which is written in C program for nesting/packing system parts with reducing wastage of material up to 55%. The CAD/CAM aspects like design and wire path generation are discussed in order to provide the basis for machining of intricate shapes on Wire-cut EDM. The data of the wire path was post processed to generate NC Code and linked to Wire EDM machine.
