Effects of Wind Shield on Performance of Solar Flat Plate Collector

摘要

The utilization of solar energy covers a large area of multiple applications. The solar installations for house water heating are the most frequently used. These installations have a primary component i.e. flat plate solar collector that makes the conversion of solar radiation into thermal energy. The paper presents a simplified methodology that allows evaluating the performance by effects of wind shield on the performance of solar flat plate collector. Present study proposes single exposure liquid flat plate solar collector. In this system clamp joint and solder joint are replaced by continuous TIG welding, also, designed natural circulation liquid flow using water as the fluid which is self-regulating, and applying black chrome over nickel substrate on copper sheet for absorption of greater energy, and by adding the wooden windshields along perimeter of the flat plate solar energy collector creating the heat convective film that minimize the top loss coefficient by increasing the energy gained. All these modified parameters are to increase the heat flow rate from absorber plate to riser tubes. Hence, the efficiency of proposed system is more than the conventional system. From the experimental verification it was found that efficiency increased by about 16.44% for water in windshield collector compared to without windshield collector.
