Stanley Day founded the S.A. Day Co., Buffalo, N.Y., in 1910 and the Day family owned and operated the business until 1955, producing and distributing buffing compound, and buffing and polishing wheels. Nearly 100 years later, the company still thrives thanks to its willingness to adapt to the changing market. A group of investors acquired the company in 1955 and broadened the product lines to include the distribution of abrasives and cutting tools. Paul Conn, a chemist, joined the company in 1956 and the company added metal finishing chemicals and equipment used by the electroplating industry.
