Seamless Optical and Radio Transmission with Cascaded W-band Wireless Sections

In this paper, we demonstrate a seamless transmission of optical and millimeter wave (MMW) links with two cascaded W-band wireless sections for the first time. A 5-Gbaud QPSK signal was successfully transmitted over 2×20-km single mode fiber (SMF) spans and 2×2-m W-band wireless links. The results confirm the technical feasibility and practicality of seamless integration of optical and radio links with plural MMW wireless sections.
