Dear Sir, The digital nerve supplying the ulnar aspect of the little finger provides a vital role in hand function. Loss of sensibility following injury to this nerve can affect hand function and dexterity. Furthermore loss of protective sensation may increase the risk of injury to the digit. Dupuytren's disease commonly affects the little finger. Frequently the digital nerve of the ulnar aspect of the little finger is intricately related to and must be carefully dissected from the Dupuytren's tissue during palmar fasciectomy. A detailed knowledge of the anatomy of the digital nerves of the little finger is therefore essential.
