Photosynthetic activity of fruit tissues

Excised tissue discs taken from the outer, middle and inner parts of apple (Variety Newtown) were found to be equally photosynthetically active. Consequently, part of the oxygen present in the internal atmosphere of the fruit may originate from the photosynthetic activity of the inner fruit tissue.
