The method of computer simulation was applied to the development of the gantries for X-ray CT scanners. Most important factors for the designing of the gantries for sub-second X-ray CT scanners are the entire dynamic balance and the rigidity of the structure. The analysis of the constructions was made using 3-D models in the computer simulation of the gantry rotation. All the parameters and coefficients utilized in the simulation were corrected according to the experimental values obtained in the actual experiments. Finally, the total results of the computer simulation were compared with those obtained in the actual experiments. Our investigations have shown that the method of computer simulation ensures high efficiency and high reliability in designing the gantries for sub-second X-ray CT scanners.
