Acoustic phase technique for measuring stress region in materials

摘要

This paper describes an acoustic phase measurement by which a phase shift by a fraction of a degree can be detected. This method enables us to measure stress in a fatiquehyphen;cracked doublehyphen;cantilever steel sample in the region around the crack. The results give an indication of the size of the plastic region in the neighborhood of the crack.
