The adiabatic elastic stiffness coefficients of four Ni‐Fe single‐crystal alloys in the composition range from 90 to 50 wt. of Ni have been determined by the ultrasonic coherent pulse/ continuous wave (cw) technique at room temperature at a frequency of 8 MHZ. The alloying composition influences the three independent elastic constantsC11,C12, andC44of the Cubic crystal. The striking feature is the highly linear dependence of the shear constantsC′ = (C11−C12) andC44on the relative concentration of the constituents.
