Continuoushyphen;wave xhyphen;ray exposure was first used as a preionizer on a pulsedhyphen;discharge HF laser. We investigated experimentally the preionization effect of this cw xhyphen;ray preionizer on a pulsed HF laser. Although the cw xhyphen;ray preionizer resulted in a characteristic performance similar to that of the flash xhyphen;ray preionizer, the cw xhyphen;ray generator has a much larger dose than a flash xhyphen;ray generator. Applicability of a cw xhyphen;ray preionizer to a highhyphen;repetitionhyphen;rate pulsed laser was discussed.
