Interferometric determination of the refractive index of optical fiber cladding and an examination of its homogeneity

The refractive index of optical fiber cladding has been measured to an accuracy of 1×10−4using multiple‐beam Fizeau fringes. The interferometric method has been also used as a control on the process of cladding production by examining the homogeneity of fiber cladding.
