Westland wess Has.1 XS887 was moved from its long-term home at the Flambards Experience at Helston in Cornwall to Aeroventure at Doncaster on December 8-9.One of only four of this original version of the Wessex remaining, the helicopter was recently donated by Commander Douglas Kingsford-Hale of Flambards to the Yorkshire Helicopter Preservation Group (YHPG), which is based at Aeroventure. The Wessex has already gone on display, and a refurbishmentand repaint will begin soon. It will remain in its current scheme, which it wore during the mid-1960s while based on the County-Class Destroyer HMS Fife.
