摘要

The basis of the significant structure theory is briefly discussed. It is proposed that the ``solidlike'' degrees of freedom be represented by the Lennardhyphen;Jones and Devonshire cell theory partition function rather than the Einstein oscillator position function which has been used previously. The theory is applied to a system of rigid spheres and the pressure and entropy are calculated with good results.
