ABSTRACTAn improved agar‐liffusion method has been developed for the detection of sulfonamides. The principle is based upon the incorporation of trimethoprim in Standard II‐Nutrient Agar (pH 7.2) seeded withBacillus subtilis.The sensitivity ofB. subtilisto other antibiotics, including trimethoprim, is not influenced.
