Optical probing was used to evaluate the coefficient for surfacehyphen;wave harmonic generation on three highhyphen;coupling cuts of lithium niobate, namely,yhyphen;z,xhyphen;z, and 41thinsp;1/2hyphen;x. Surfacehyphen;wave attenuation and acoustic beam diffraction profiles of the fundamental and second harmonic were also measured.
