In the lull between the release of the Chevy Camaro Z/28 and the new Ford Mustang, nobody saw the 707-horsepower Challenger SRT Hellcat coming until it was too late. Dodge dropped in from the sky, claiming not only the fastest and most powerful musclecar ever, but also one that is mortally priced at $60,990. A Ferrari F12 Berlinetta has only 24 hp on the Challenger - and costs about $258,000 more. Before anybody else had even driven it, Dodge laid claim to the quarter mile in 11.2 seconds on street tires - hence the "fastest" mantle - but folks were still incredulous.
