The Australian National Aviation Museum at Moorabbin in the south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne is seeking funds to acquire Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation (CAC) CA-17 Mustang Mk20 A68-71, the oldest CAC Mustang to survive in Australia. The airframe is complete and in very good condition, having been the subject of a long-term restoration to fly at Gisborne, Victoria since 1984. The asking price of $250,000 includes funds to re-assemble the aircraft, complete the paint and electrical wiring, and install the engine and propeller, which are the only major components currently missing. It is hoped that the fighter will be displayed in ground running trim.
