One of the top complaints from the students related to infection control and hand washing. There were several examples of nursing staff and other healthcare workers neglecting to wash their hands. Some staff would give the excuse that it wasn't worth the effort to wash if they were only doing something minor for a patient. Others just seemed to totally ignore the importance of hand washing even when they were performing an aseptic technique or cleaning patients following toileting. Such a finding was remarkable given the emphasis on hand washing and good hygiene these days.
