ON JULY 26, at Hardwick in Norfolk, Maurice Hammond flew his North American P-51 D Mustang 44-13521/ G-MRLL following a five-year rebuild. It has been finished in the 5O4th Fighter Squadron, 339th Fighter Group markings it wore at Fowl-mere, Cambs, in 1944.Named Marinell, it was flown by 2nd Lt Myer Winkleman, who was killed in the aircraft over France on August 13, 1944. The substantial remains were rescued from a scrapyard in France before Maurice acquired it.
