The propagation of harmonics in the ac traction network can beinfluenced by the use of network filters. Special risks are expectedto result form temporary points of resonance where the allowableharmonic currents can be significantly exceeded on account of achange in the conditions of propagation. The paper presents a simpleexample for analysing the effect of network filters on thepropagation of harmonics at points of resonance in the ac tractionnetwork. The impedance, current and voltage characteristics arisingare analyzed by simulation of the interference sources in the modelsystem selected, and mention is made of existing interactions betweenthe interference sources, the network filter and the ac tractionnetwork.
