Phytochrome B Is Not Detectable in thehy3Mutant ofArabidopsis, Which Is Deficient in Responding to End-of-Day Far-Red Light Treatments

Immunoblot analysis using a monoclonal antibody specific to phytochrome B (phyB) suggest that this protein is undetectable in thehy3mutant ofArabidopsis. Photophysiological experiments revealed thathy3mutants do not display end-of-day far-red growth responses. Thus, this particular phytochrome response seems to be mediated in large part by phyB.
