Newly Established CAS Key Laboratories

In a bid to promote the research and development of basic sciences and high technology, new key laboratories have been set up at CAS. The Applied Superconductivity Laboratory (AscLab), a CAS key lab located at the CAS Institute of Electric Engineering, is dedicated to the basic research into the applied superconductivity, including science and technology for superconducting power and superconducting high magnetic field. Its research activities cover: Characterization of Type-II superconductors; Stability, operational diagnosis, quench evolution and the protection of superconducting magnets; Principles, dynamics, electromagnetic compatibility of superconducting power devices; Dynamic stability theory and economic operation theory of power grids with superconducting power devices; and.
