Abstract.Variation within and between samples of emigrant alatae from galls on identifiedPistaciaspecies was studied using bivariate and multivariate techniques. TheGeoica utriculariacomplex seems to include at least five taxa, including two newly identified;G.utriculariaPasserini sensu stricto, onPistacia terebinthus; G.muticaeMordvilko, onP.mutica; G.rungsiDavatchiRemaudière, onP.atlantica; G.harpazisp.n., also onP.atlantica; andG. wertheimaesp.n. onP. palaestina. The emigrant alatae of the two new species are described, together with apterous exules reared from them, and a key is provided to emigrant alatae of all eightGeoicaspecies now known to induce galls onPistacia. The taxonomic status of anholocyclic, grass‐feeding populations in theGeoica utriculariagroup is discuss
