Effect of desiccation on the germination of akinetes ofAnabaena cylindrica

摘要

Akinetes ofAnabaena cylindricawere more tolerant to desiccation than vegetative cells. Desiccated akinetes retained the germination ability after storage in darkness for 5 years. Desiccated vegetative cells failed to grow after storage of only 15 days.
