Natural gas prices are expected to remain volatile and increase from current levels, according to a newly published industry price forecast. Driven in part by anticipated normal winter and summer 2002 weather conditions, the increasing use of natural gas as the primary fuel.for incre-mental power generation and a supply imbalance, Gelber Associates predicts natural gas prices will increase by over $1 per MMBtu over the next 12 months. The study also concludes that price increases over $10, as seen last winter, are similar in many ways to the price increases seen in the silver market in 1980, the soybean mar-ket in 1977 and the sugar market in 1974.
